SSR 2017: Security Standardisation Research

Conference venue

SSR 2017 will be hosted at Royal Holloway, University of London by the Information Security Group (ISG). The ISG is one of the largest academic security groups in the world. It brings together in a single institution expertise in education, research and practice in the field of information security.

Founders building

Royal Holloway is located in a beautiful part of Surrey, a county famed for its historic market towns, parks and woodlands, and a lively cultural sporting scene. The university campus is located very close to Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. Nearby are Windsor Great Park, adjoining Windsor Castle, and Wentworth Golf Club, home of the annual PGA Championship. Central London is easily accessible by train for a whole host of activities - trips to the shops, famous tourist attractions, galleries, theatres and nightlife.

The college campus is situated just a few minutes walk from Windsor Great Park between the villages of Englefield Green and Virginia Water, and close to the towns of Egham, Staines and Windsor.

Conference locations

Registration packs, containing a copy of the conference proceedings, name badge, and general information about the conference and venue, will be available for collection from the foyer of the Moore Building (School of Management) on the morning of Monday 18th December (before the conference opening), and again on the morning of Tuesday 19th December. The Moore Building is marked 12 on the campus plan.

All conference presentations will take place in the Management Auditorium, also in the Moore Building - marked 12 on the campus plan. Refreshments and buffet lunches will be served in the (adjacent) foyer of the Moore Building.

The conference Gala Dinner will take place on Monday 18th December in the Crosslands Suite, in the Royal Holloway Founder's Building. The Crosslands Suite, marked 1 on the campus plan, is named after the architect of Founder's, William Henry Crossland. Pre-dinner drinks will be served at 19:00, followed by dinner at 19:30.

Optional accommodation for delegates is available on the college campus in Tuke Hall (marked 9 on the campus plan); this comfortable but reasonably priced hotel style accommodation includes breakfast, and all rooms are 'en suite'. Tuke Hall is located within five minutes' walk of the conference lecture hall. The accommodation is available for two nights, for guests checking in on December 17th and checking out December 19th. Guests checking in should proceed to the Hub (marked 41 on the campus plan). A self-service buffet dinner will be provided for residential delegates on the evening of Sunday 17th December. This will be available between 19:30 and 20:30 in the Senior Common Room (SCR) in Founder's Building, marked 1 on the campus plan.
